Born in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, Alexander Meyers relocated to California in 1981 where he was surrounded by a flourishing music life. Greatly influenced by his operatic mother, Lisa Beth Sterling, Alexander explored many varied outlets from tap dancing to piano to guitar. His first guitar was a Harmony Sunburst Electric at age 13. It was this guitar that sparked his life long passion for music.

Since, Alexander has been awarded five music scholarships. In 2004, he made the Deans Honor List for academic excellence and received his Associate of Arts in music. Alexander received a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance from San Diego State University in 2006 and a Masters of Music in 2009.

Throughout Alexander’s music pursuits, he has been heartily received by esteemed maestros. His foremost influence is credited to his earliest teachers, George Svoboda and Fred Benedetti, whose generosity and guidance was immeasurable. In 2003, Alexander took part in Master Classes with renowned guitar virtuosos, Antonio de Innocentis of Naples Italy and in 2005 with Jason Vieaux of Cleveland Ohio.

In addition to his academics and performance, Alexander has had a fruitful teaching career. After embarking in 2000 with local San Diego schools, he was contracted with the non-profit organization Camp Adventure as a civilian youth counselor for the United States Military in Spain 2002 with an immediate following three-time contract in Pearl Harbor, 2002-3. He was assigned Director of Programs for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in Belgium, 2003, with an equally significant position in 2004 with the British Armed Service in Germany. Following his international work, Alexander greatly expanded and headed the guitar department at the Ray & Joan Kroc Center of Performer Arts in San Diego for four years. In 2009, he became supervisor of school-age youth programs for the U. S. Marine Corps Air Station in Iwakuni, Japan, followed by a contract for the U.S. Army in Vilseck / Grafenwoehr / Bamberg, Germany, overseeing several intern programs in 2010.

Alexander has taught and performed music in a wide array of venues and continues to enjoy a fulltime career as a Guitar Instructor and active Performer in San Diego.
